- User Tips: 1. Apply tile adhesive to the surface using the flat edge of the trowel. 2. Rake the notched edge along the adhesive to create parallel grooves 3. Apply a layer of tile adhesive to the back of the tile and rake with the trowel. This is known as back buttering. 4. Use a levelling system to ensure lippage free tiling. 5. For larger tiles, use larger notches. 6. Clean and dry the trowel thoroughly after use. 7. Store in a dry place
