FAQs
How do you tile a roof?
When tiling a roof, you’ll want to start by laying an under-tile membrane over the roof trusses. Once down, attach roof battens horizontally to provide a structure for the tiles. Then you can begin installing the tiles at the bottom edge of the roof, before working upwards and overlapping each row for complete coverage. You’ll need proper fasteners to install your tiles if dry fixing, or cement and mortar if wet fixing, as well as Verge, Ridge, and Hip Tiles for edges and features. Finish your roofing project by installing ridge tiles along the peak of the roof and ensure that all tiles are secure and aligned.
How do you clean roof tiles?
Before you begin cleaning your roof tiles, remove any leaves or debris before watering the tiles down ready for a wash. You’ll then need to apply roof cleaning solution and begin working it into the tiles using a soft brush. Be careful not to damage the tiles by being extra gentle. Lastly, rinse with clean water and you’ll leave a sparkling tile surface. Please note, you should always be careful when cleaning your roof at height.
How many roof tiles per m2?
How many tiles you need per square metre will depend on the type and size of the tiles. Usually, you need around 9-10 interlocking tiles per m², but always check tile product details to size up as needed.
