How long does cement take to dry?
Cement goes through several stages of drying and the initial setting period usually takes around 6 hours. However, the cement won’t be suitable for foot traffic for 24-48 hours. After 7 days, the cement will almost be at its full strength however, it can take up to a month for the cement to be ready for the heaviest of loads.
How do I mix cement?
Cement powder can be easily mixed with water by hand using a paddle and bucket however, if you’re mixing the cement with sand or aggregate, a cement mixer will make this task much easier. Either way, the cement, water and added materials should be mixed until a consistent texture and thickness is reached.
What is the mixing ratio of cement?
When mixing cement and sand to create mortar for brick laying or other joining tasks, a 1:4 ratio of cement to sand is often used. When mixing cement, sand and aggregate to create concrete, most general-purpose applications such as foundations and laying slabs use a 1:2:4 ratio of cement, sand and aggregate.
To make this process simpler, our range of products includes pre-mixed mortar and concrete which can be mixed with water for easy use.
