Measure your space

Install & Measure at the Right Time

Ideally, measure your space after the shower tray and tiles or wall panels are installed. Tiles affect the final opening size, so measuring too early can lead to the wrong fit. Most people buy their tray, tiles and enclosure at the same time. Therefore, Nexa by MERLYN enclosures include adjustment to allow for tiled walls. Before opening your enclosure box, measure the finished opening to ensure it fits within the product’s adjustment range. Installation order: Shower tray → Tiles → Measure → Enclosure

Measure Accurately

Measure width at the top, middle and bottom. Use the smallest measurement. Record in millimetres (mm). For corner or quadrant enclosures, measure the two straight tray edges. Measure height from tray to ceiling.

Check Space & Adjustment

Ensure walls are straight (use a spirit level). Allow room for the door to open fully. Check radiators, towel rails, windowsills or pipework won’t obstruct installation. Always review the adjustment range in the product specification.

What type of shower enclosure do I need?

Start with your bathroom layout. The shape of your enclosure depends on the space available.

Showering terms made simple

What's the difference between Nexa 6 and Nexa 8?

Nexa 6 has 6mm toughened safety glass, slim profiles, and is practical and durable, ideal for most family bathrooms. Nexa 8 has 8mm toughened safety glass, a thicker, heavier feel and more minimal framing, and is designed for a premium, contemporary finish. If you want a solid, everyday solution, Nexa 6 is a great option. If you're aiming for a more luxurious, design-led look, choose Nexa 8.

What is a framed shower enclosure?

A framed shower enclosure is a shower enclosure where the glass is fully supported by a metal frame. This provides strong structural support and helps accommodate slightly uneven walls. A practical choice for straightforward installations.

What is a frameless or semi-frameless shower enclosure?

A semi-frameless shower enclosure has framing around the outer edge, with minimal visible metal around the door. A frameless shower enclosure has very little visible framing for a clean, modern finish, which creates a lighter, more open look. They typically uses thicker glass and are ideal for contemporary bathrooms.

What is a quadrant shower enclosure?

A quadrant shower enclosure is a curved-front enclosure designed to fit into a corner. It's a space-saving design, ideal for smaller bathrooms or en suites, and pairs with a quadrant shower tray.

What is a square or rectangular shower enclosure?

A square enclosure is a straight-edged design for corner installation. A rectangular enclosure has a longer design, offering a more spacious showering area. Rectangular enclosures are popular when replacing a bath with a shower.

What is a sliding shower door?

A sliding shower door is a door that slides horizontally along runners. No outward opening space is required, so it's ideal where bathroom space is limited.

What is a pivot or hinged shower door?

A pivot or hinged shower door is a door that opens outward like a standard door. This gives wider entry access, but requires clearance in front of the enclosure.

What is a walk-in shower panel?

A walk-in shower panel is a fixed glass panel with an open entry point, giving a modern, minimal appearance, as no door is required. This is best suited to larger bathrooms.

What is an adjustment range?

The adjustment range is the built-in tolerance within the wall profiles that allows the enclosure to fit slightly uneven walls. Always check the adjustment range against your smallest measurement before ordering.
