Frequently Asked Questions
Our kitchen worktop edgings and trims are ideal for finishing your primary, island or breakfast bar worktops. Whether you’re finishing a laminate surface or engineered materials with an edge, we’ll have something to suit so you can achieve that professional looking finish with ease.
How do you fit worktop edging?
Fitting worktop edging is easy with the right tools and know-how. Here’s what to do:
-
Measure and cut your edging trips to required size, allowing for a small overhang. What you use will depend on the material; aluminium will require a hacksaw or mitre box for best results.
- Apply contact adhesive, before fixing the edging in place, pressing down on along the length to ensure its secure.
- Trim any excess edging off using a utility knife, router or edging trimmer.
- For a clean result, smooth down the edges using sandpaper or a file.
What adhesive is best for worktop edging?
Contact adhesive works best for aluminium and laminate edging.
How do you cut worktop trims?
To cut your worktop trims, simply:
- Measure and mark your cut lines to ensure accuracy.
- Secure the trim using a clamp so that it won’t move while you cut.
- Cut using a suitable tool – laminate and aluminium trims will require a fine-toothed hacksaw or a sharp knife (if it’s a thin sheet).
- For accurate 45° corner cuts, use a mitre box next.
- Finish off by filing the edges to neaten them up and remove any burrs.
Remember to always take your time for the best results.
