The best way to clean a washing machine is to place a small amount of detergent, bleach, or washing machine cleaner in the drawer and put the machine on a hot cycle. You should then run another cycle to rinse the machine out before leaving the door open to dry it out.
Smells and odours coming from your washing machine are usually caused by a build-up of moisture or detergent. To keep your machine smelling fresh, you should regularly clean it and ensure that the door is kept open post-wash for the drum to fully dry. Regularly cleaning the detergent drawer and the door seal will also prevent any unwanted smells. Don’t forget to air out the drum every now and then too by leaving the door open for a few hours.
