Choose bifold doors to replace traditional hinged alternatives for a stylish, space-saving solution. Bifolding doors, also known as folding doors or concertina doors, slide open, folding neatly to stand beside their frame. You can eliminate wasted space when you select these sleek, contemporary-styled doors for your home.
Our internal concertina doors are available in a range of materials and finishes, so you can choose the style that suits your home. Traditional wooden bifold doors provide privacy, whereas bifold glass doors create a brighter space, making it feel larger.
FAQs:
Are bifolding doors nice in a home?
Bifold doors are known for their aesthetics and practicality. Not only do they seamlessly fit in with any type of décor, but they can create a seamless transition between rooms when fully open, allowing for an open plan feel to the space. On the other hand, when closed, they effectively separate areas, providing privacy and noise reduction. They also facilitate ventilation, especially when opened partially; helping to improve air circulation throughout.
What are the benefits of bifolding doors?
One of the main points of appeal is that bifold doors fold in on themselves rather than swinging open, making them an excellent choice for areas with limited space. They're particularly useful in small bathrooms or box bedrooms where traditional full internal doors would take up valuable floor space.
How do you install bifold doors?
Folding doors are simple to install as you don’t need advanced joinery skills to hang them. All you need to do is mount the track to the door frame using a hand drill and screwdriver before fitting the door within the gap in the track. Once properly installed, they require minimal upkeep with occasional cleaning and lubrication of the track system.
How do internal bifolding doors work?
Bifold doors are comprised of two or more panels connected by door hinges. These hinges allow the panels to fold together accordion-style when closing while unfolding when opening. They are installed on a track system mounted to the top or bottom of the door frame. The panels of the door have rollers or wheels attached to them which then attach to the track, allowing the panels to slide smoothly along it.
The handles located on the panels are used to pull the doors open or push them closed. Some bifold doors utilise magnetic catches or latches to ensure that the panels stay in place when the door is closed. When opening a bifold door, pull on the handle or knob, causing the panels to slide along the track and fold against each other. When closing the door, you push the panels together until they are fully extended and aligned, before using the handle to pull them into the closed position.
How do you adjust bifolding doors?
To adjust bifold doors, begin by checking if there are any obstructions along the track or hinges that may be causing the misalignment of doors. If not caused by an obstruction, you can adjust the height of the doors by turning the adjustment screws that are either at the top or bottom of the doors. Generally, when turned clockwise, the doors will be raised, and when turned anticlockwise, they are lowered.
For alignment issues, twist the alignment screws found on the hinges. Turning them clockwise will bring the doors closer together, but anticlockwise will move them apart.
