What colour fence paint makes a garden look bigger?

To brighten up your garden, creating a spacious effect, use lighter fence paint colours such as soft greys, pale blues or white. These will reflect more light, creating an open feel.

Can you use fence paint on decking?

We don’t recommend that you use fence paint on your decking as it isn’t formulated to withstand foot traffic. Use a decking paint or stain instead for your decks, these will provide a much more durable finish. 

Can I paint my side of the neighbour’s fence?

You should always get your neighbour’s permission before customising your side of the fence. However, if the fence is entirely on your property, you’ve the right to decorate it as you please.

How long does fence paint take to dry?

This depends on the tin you choose. Generally, fence paint takes 1-2 hours before you’re able to touch it, but it isn’t fully cured for 24-48 hours, depending on the conditions outside. You can also apply another coat after 4-6 hours if necessary. However, some fence paints do state fast drying times, most commonly an hour, but this is dependent on temperature, application, humidity and paint type.

How much fence paint do I need?

This depends on how many fence panels you’re painting, how large their surface area is and how many coats they’ll need. As a general rule of thumb, a standard medium-sized fence (20-30 metres) require 10-20 litres for two coats on both sides.
