How does a torch work?

A torch works either by being charged by a cable, or with compatible batteries. These power sources send electricity through a switch and circuit to an LED light source. Once you switch your torch on, the LED converts electrical energy into light, and either a lens or reflector focuses and directs the light beam, so you have visibility in dark spaces.

Can I carry a rechargeable torch on a flight?

Disposable batteries can last between 2-20 hours, but high-powered torches can reduce this significantly with maximum output.
